Our good friends Jaime and Al were at the hospital welcoming their beautiful girl, Chloe, so their son Vinny came over to play. We had been having some bad thunder and lightening storms lately and this particular night we were in the middle of an island wide blackout. This picture was actually taken in complete darkness, but the flash made it look as if all the lights were on. I had the boys on my lap and was pretending that I was a train going around and around with sounds and vibration effects to boot. It was so cute because Jake was laughing and reaching out to hold on to Vinny. We convinced Vinny that we were 'camping' at auntie nics house and all was well. side note: iphones make great emergency flashlights.

Christmas
Christmas is so much more fun when you have a child!!!! Chris and I have never been more in the spirit and it was so nice to be at home with Chris' mom and brother visiting. Jake loved opening his gifts and at times the bows and paper were more entertaining than the toy inside. We had such a blast and of course we finished off the day at the beach.
Jake said his first word yesterday! "mum" He said it 5 times in about 5 minutes and he hasn't stopped since. I have never heard a sweeter thing. Today Chris and I worked on "da da da" for about 2 minutes straight, when we stopped to allow Jake to speak he clearly stated..."mum ma ma ma ma ma" :) I love my child.

Chris bought me a beautiful necklace to match my earrings that he gave me for our anniversary.
'Santa' got Jake an awesome toy that he can bounce in, swivel in, and reach out to all of his toys. Independence!!! (for Jake and Mom)
John had a blast in the water, boogie boarding, body surfing, and surfing.
Darn it, now that I think of it, we should have built a sandy snowman! Remind me next year.

Christmas is almost here!!!
Chris' Mom (Cherie) and Brother (John) came to visit us for Christmas and it is really nice to be at home for the holidays this year. The past few years we have traveled to CA or UT for the holidays, but this year family has all come to us and we have enjoyed every minute. To our friends and family on the mainland: we miss you, love you and wish you the happiest of holidays!
Jake has started to eat Barley (not his favorite) and seems to be putting on some weight finally! Bath time is still Jake's favorite part of his nighttime routine...

Home for the Holidays!!
We went to the Sheraton Bowl Bowl tonight and Jake loved all the action. University of Hawaii were victims to Notre Dame's wrath and when we left ( 10minutes left ) the score was 14 to 49. It was still fun to get in the spirit of the game with our spirit shirts and balloon hats.

7 years already?!
I have been married to the man of my dreams for 7 years. My handsome hubby bought me beautiful ruby/ diamond teardrop earrings that I want to wear every minute. Our good friends Jaime and Al watched Jake for us so that we could enjoy a night out. We had a great time and Jake loved hanging our with his friend Vinny.
We thought that we would get a nice pic in front of our friends Christmas tree, but we were taller than the adorable thing and the star looks like a quirky hair piece.

rice cereal.....is messy! :) Our dogs couldn't be happier.
Jake learned how to rock out with Vinny while Mom and Dad were out at dinner. Jake is always in awe of Vinny and I can't wait to watch them grow up together.

Christmas Biathlon 2008
Chris and I did the Christmas Biathlon this weekend down at Ala Moana. I started off with a 5k run then tagged him as he finished with a 1000m swim.

Jake is so lucky to have great buddies that are helping learn the basics of surfing at such a young age. Jake watched Vinny (far right) with envy as him and his Dad Al went out surfing shortly after this warm up.

R is for Reindeer!
We couldn't resist dressing up our little reindeer as we headed out to get our Christmas tree.

Jake and I are usually the only fans at Chris' hockey games, but hey you get seats on the glass and the MVP's attention.
Ko'Olina is a resort a few miles from our house and they have four man-made lagoons that have just the right amount of grass, sand, shade and surf (or lack there of). On this particular day we tried out the turtle and Jake loved it!

Grandma Dee Dee
My mom was able to come out for 2 weeks and finally meet her favorite grandson. We took in a few surf contests, hiked up diamond head, and just enjoyed the time together.
we ran upon a monk seal sun bathing, but Jake kept his eye on the surf.
Success at the top of Diamond Head! Jake did great on his first hike.

Surf Season!!
30ft+
Surf was up while my mom was here and Jake could hardly believe how big the waves were.

Conditions were perfect and the barrel rides came one after another.
Could you imagine seeing this wall of water coming at you...I got chills with every set that rolled in.
The closeouts were deafening and shook the sand at Pipe.

The Vensko Family visit
The sun finally came out and we managed to sneak in some surf time. After a day at the beach the boys were feeling good and decided to do doughnuts in the dirt....with the boards (which they forgot to tie down) in the back. Whoops! They flew like kites out of the truck and now I am in search of someone who will do fiberglass repair for a good deal.

Jake loved wearing Uncle Thomas' hats and always lit up with Grandma Kim.
All bundled up at Daddy's hockey game. Jake loves the games and is so cute in his cold weather gear.
