100K bike ride

We thought that we should make sure that we could actually complete the 56mile bike portion of the upcoming Honu ironman, so we did the 100k(60mile-ish) Haleiwa metric century ride this past weekend. We did great, besides having permanant bum bruising from the long trek, and even managed to jog a few miles after 4hours of riding. The weather was perfect and as you can see the views were breathtaking.






Gma Kim sent Jake a box full of cute clothes and this onesie was too funny because it is sooo fitting. It reads "CAUTION! Teething..". My little guy has all 4 uppers fighting to break through at the same time. Fun times..fun times..yep..fun..fun..fun:)


I was being inducted into a psychology national honor society this past weekend, so we took the dress up opportunity to get in a few pics.

The Domino Effect

For those of you that don't know, Chris and I are training for the 1/2 iron man coming up in May. In our effort to get trim and fit for the grueling race, we have attempted to train and eat healthier (kinda....OK, a little less than kinda...not that much).

Chris decided to take drastic measures last month and cut out SODA and BEER from his diet. This man showed amazing inner strength as he even took his entire ice hockey team out after the playoffs to a nearby bar, bought 2 rounds of drinks, and sipped on a frosted mug of ice water. I love this man.

Needless to say his determination was attractive and I was a bit envious of his will power. So, I challenged myself to go without CANDY. Then after my hubby challenged me a bit more, I included DESSERT to my list. What was I thinking!! A little update on people who are unaware--Nic eats candy or some sort of sweet every few hours...no joke. I was the kid who had a wonderful collection of candy wrappers under their bed, in their pockets, backpack, and never grew out of that stage. Just call me Nicky frickin' Crocker. But, it's a new day and I am proud to say that I have been free of candy and dessert for 6 days!! My goal is a month, but most of all whenever I go back to it, I feel like I will have more control over my intake and that makes me feel really empowered.

My friend Linda razzed me about my decision all night last Sat. while tempting me in every way she could think of. The next day she called me & said that she was onboard with no candy. Another friend, Jaime (also a candy addict) joined the bandwagon as well.

All of this inner strength and desire to challenge onself because of the inspiration of one. Our situation is commical, but the domino effect is evident and enlightening. Chris has always been a leader and a great one at that, one of the many reasons why I fell deeply in love.

Friendly Hike

Yesterday some friends and Jake and I set out for a hike up to the lighthouse. One of my friends, Linda, is also graduating with me next month and we decided to get a "nice" shot of us in our grad get-up at the top of the hike. Needless to say the wind was rippin and we were in constant fear that our caps would fly away. However, it made for some fun shots and the kids were such troopers!

Hang Ten

We finally got our boards fixed and decided to head to the beach. Jake got his shorty out, put on plenty of sunblock, and was ready to hit the waves.

We didn't realize that Al had pulled out the video camera, so we spent most of the time looking away from the beach. After Jake had carved down the face of a couple waves and put his toes all the way up to the nose, we realized that Al was filming and got in a quick snip of Jake's first day of surfing!

Okay guys, my hubby got a hold of the blog, which is great, thank you for the help and awesome editing, but just to set the record straight I had to chime in with a bit of truth: We were hands on the entire time and without a helmet, life jacket, or goggles, there was no carving down the faces for my little baby! My sweet Jake IS however, a fish and would love nothing more than to kick and splash in H2O all day long. We are in search for a life jacket as we speak, please let us know if you see anything that would fit a 20 pounder.

Despite our best efforts, Jake managed to take a wave right to the face. He was a little uncomfortable with all the salt water in his eyes, mouth, and nose, but he did well and was ready for the next wave. Well, we are off to wax up the boards for our next trip... Have a great week!

Happy Easter

Easter fun at the neighborhood Easter egg hunt. Jake (and Mom and Dad) had fun grabbing the eggs and putting them into the basket. This egg hunt was a bit different then the ones that I remember from my childhood, in particular the hunt part. At this event there was a sectioned off area with all the eggs scattered out in the open, a countdown, and then a mad rush to gather all the eggs...oh and the 2 golden eggs that you were able to spot 10 min before they said "GO!". This is great for the younger kids, but they did this for all age groups. I remember looking behind trees and getting in a good jog in between egg pickups when I was younger...times have changed I guess.

Jake is definitely into the oral fixation stage as everything, and I mean everything, goes straight into his mouth.

Me and my little Einstein!

New Wheels! Jake loves this car and we take it everywhere. It might be a bit ghetto, but we roll him around Wall mart, the supermarket, as well as the neighborhood. We are in search of a tiny license plate that has his name on it for some personalization and Chris is working on getting some lights wired on. Tricked out!

My friend Linda made Jake this cute stuffed chic for Easter. Jake put it right to work with a pillow fight with Dad.

On Easter Day, Chris made us his favorite, blueberry pancakes, and Jake had his first try. Success, he loved them. You can see how big his one and only tooth has gotten...that thing is razor sharp!

Blast from Dad's toy collection past. Chris searched for a toy song player that he had when he was a child. He searched for hours on the web last weekend and finally found one on ebay. It is a fisher price radio that winds up and plays "somewhere over the rainbow". It was such a sweet moment to watch Chris show him how it works, and it has soothed Jake to sleep every night since then.
