The season of Thanks

The day before Turkey day when I should have been using my few hours of day care gearing up for a house full of people, I instead headed to the beach with my camera. The winter waves have arrived and this was the first mentionable swell of the season. Rain, runoff, and wind also arrived, but I still managed to get a few decent shots.

Waimea was the best spot of the day and the crazies riding the walls of water never disappoint.

Can you imagine what a ride that would be?

Then after defying gravity and staying on your board after a 25 foot vertical decent you have to hunker down and pray that the blasting avalanche of water doesn't wipe you out. FUN!

Turkey Day! I tried to convince Jake that olives where just black grapes and he totally believed me...until he had a bite.

Jaime brought over her bouncy house and the kids had a riot. Jake was effortlessly bouncing all around from the bigger kids and enjoyed every minute.

Stargazing with my lil man.

We had a great night and a house full of friends and yummy food.

My sweet dreamer.

Our family photos

We have decided to join up with the Jarrells and take each others family photos in an effort to capture more candid, natural, and FREE pictures. We thought that Ko Olina would make a perfect backdrop at sunset and Jaime captured some amazing shots.

Chris and I found Jakes watercolor surfer shirt on the north shore and the morning of the pics I luckily was able to find a matching one for Chris. They looked so handome!

Bubbles!!

In this shot I was actually on the ground trying to get a good father~son shot when Jake came running for me. Turned out to be my favorite one of the day.

Hockey has been put on hold for a few weeks as Chris began feeling some pain in his clavical/ shoulder area. X-rays reveled a heeled, but previously broken clavical around the age of 11-12 that might be causing the pain. This came as a suprise because we nor his family ever recall him breaking his clavical or compaining of significant pain. Just a crazy revelation that I thought I would share with you. Ib profin and rest has helped and hopefully he'll be back on the ice soon.

Yesterday Jaime and Vinny joined us for a beach day down in Waikiki. It is so fun to go to another beach and Waikiki is perfect for youngsters. What a great day with our friends.

Jake is learning all about his body parts lately and loves to point them out as you ask him where they are. His curiousity even has left him asking "wats sis" (what's this?) in the bathtub.....umm Daddy, your son has a question for you!

See you after Turkey Day!

Happy 27th honey!

Jake has taken great pride in making sure that the longest living ever feeder fish in our backyard pond get their daily feed. He will suddenly stop whatever he is doing and start pointing outside saying "feesh feesh feesh". This is soon followed up by him grabbing a nearby adults attention and taking them to the food (so they can get it down for him) then running out to the pond. Thanks to Jake making sure that the penny priced fish are nutritionally taken care of, they keep procreating!!!

My running buddies (Jaime & Amy) and I competed in a half marathon (13.1miles) this weekend. We all did really well and I finished in 1:43. This was my test run to see if I wanted to commit to the marathon (26.3miles) next month and although I ran a good race I still decided not to take on another marathon. I haven't trained enough and really don't enjoy the Honolulu marathon or the any milage after 13 for that matter. If I do another one I want it to be on the mainland and somewhere fun, perhaps Disneyland or one of the many Rock n Roll marathons, that I would be interested in.

Jake had some friends over the other day and he really enjoyed the company on his own turf. I have been in denial for awhile, but the babyness is gone and he is really ALL BOY. They crashed cars, threw beach balls at each other, and played their own version of tag in which no one was really it and they would run to find other only to scream and laugh as they ran away again.

This was a first for Jake so I had to capture the moment. I was talking to him one minute and grabbing him seconds as I look back to see him passed out. Seeiously after only seconds of talking to him. I actually panicked at first thinking something was wrong, until I heard his soft deep sleepy breaths. We finished lunch after the nap that day.

Lets go running Daddy! Chris is commited to doing the half ironman in Boulder next summer with his Brothers and Dad and Jake is all the more willing to help out with the training.

Chris turns 27 today!!

We threw a Veterns/BDay bash yesterday at the house and had a great time. I made a ridiculous amount of yummy food, the kids entertained each other and the adults, and we ending the night with a game of pictionary. Lots of laughs and love for my hubby, happy birthday Chris!

Boy craziness!

Chris has been wanting me to make him a blanket for months and althoug I didn't have time to quilt one, I did manage to make a "no sew" one in time for his BDay. Bring on the snow storms baby! Alright wishfull thinking.

Trick or Treat

This year Jake was a Lion, the cutest king of the jungle I have ever seen I might add.

This magnificent Lion was complete with a scary "Roooaaarr" and a claw swipe if you got too close.

On Friday night we went to a Trunk n Treat at Chris' work. 10-15 cars decorate their trunks and hand out treats to the kids. I had been trying to get Jake used to the idea of carrying his treat bag and getting little treats to put inside and he had no interest UNTIL we arrived. All of the sudden Jake knew exactly what he was there to do and had a blast.

Jake soon found the bouncy house and had so much fun watching all the fairies, mermaids, princess' and occasional ninja jump around him. Afterwards we headed over to the Jarrells Halloween party where we concluded the night with some break dancing that Jake learned from his pal Vinny.

Time to carve the pumpkins

Jake dug right in and got so excited that pumpkins seeds where flyin, as you can see. :)

I carved a skeleton head in one and we used potato head pieces for the other, cute turnout.

Here is Jake surrounded by a few of his friends from day care.

Jake got a bit tired and decided to sit while he rummaged through his treats. He managed to get through a candy wrapper and enjoyed a Butterfinger while we were walking the neighborhood.

Brandi and her kids, Rhian and Dylon, came over for the night and she made a delicious ORANGE velvet cake. We truly had a great weekend full of friends, fun, and lots of treats!
