Our fist blog!

What's Up
This is our new family blog. We decided that it was easier for everyone to stay up to date if we published our updates through this blog. To get our blog started, we will just try to get everyone caught up...

So, in the beginning, there was man... several thousand years later, Chris and I got hitched, moved to Hawaii, and decided that our family needed to grow. Our son, Jake, was born on the 13th of July, 2008 at 10:34PM in Honolulu, Hawaii.

He is now 2 months old, and getting bigger every day. At his 2-month checkup last week, he weighed 11 pounds, was 23 inches, and the doctor said that he was very healthy. We have found that he sleeps like a baby only when he is in his swing, but that he also passes out when we take him for a ride in the car. He is not a big fan of laying on his tummy, but his legs are really strong, and he is ready to start playing soccer.

Chris and I decided that we are going to attempt to survive the Honu, Half Ironman on May 30, 2009. For those of you that don't know, a half Ironman starts out with a 1.2-mile swim, continues with a 56-mile bike, and ends with a relaxing 13.1-mile run (half the distance of a marathon). To get things started, I did the NaWahine Sprint Triathlon (500-meter swim, 12-mile bike, and a 5-kilometer run). We tried going to the pool earlier this week, and Chris almost drowned! He has a long way to go, but he went right out for a run as soon as we got home from the pool.

Well, that brings us up to today, and I am tired of typing. I will try and do frequent, short posts, to try and keep everyone up to date.
Have a good weekend,
Nichole
